Essence — the most profound offering

Welcome friend— to my most significant adventure and greatest undoing; Motherhood. Though my first child is still tucked deep under my heart (due the first week of February 2021), I have had the opportunity to mother many over the years.

One of my greatest knowing’s with respect to mothering is that our approach is someone else’s until we make it our own. Making it our own is often life’s greatest work, or as I like to call it, my greatest undoing. It is an incredible call to sift through every belief, rule, and judgment, then intently and consciously remove the debris and obscurities until we’ve refined them to feel like ours again. I say “again” because, for me, that process of fine-tuning feels much like a remembering of my truest essence.

My belief is that essence is the most profound offering to ourselves and to others, simply because it transcends the stories that we are telling; it is an expression of the story, the feeling that is left long after we are gone, and something I hope to nurture a little bit of in my child(ren). A rite of passage that I don’t believe would be so eminent without first beginning to mother and heal the little girl in me.

If you are feeling called to the essence of Motherhood, my utmost hope is that my writings nurture us through this significant adventure and great undoing; nurturing a little bit of essence with the child(ren) in and outside of ourselves.
